Painted to create a large focal point together as a diptych, but each is stunning each on their own as well.
These birds, which are native to the southeast coast of the USA, were hunted almost to extinction as the fashion industry used their neon pink feathers in hats. I had never seen any in the wild here in Florida, until recently! Now they are really making a comeback and I can’t stop painting them. It’s amazing to see them each and every time- their unique bill shape and full spectrum shades of pink make everyone who see them stop, notice their beauty, smile and feel brighter- inside and out.
