"Shield" ARTIST STATEMENT:
Exploring , treasuring, and protecting nature is a passion my parents instilled in me, and one I'm now passing onto my own kids as well. There is so much I could say about how amazing and important mangroves are to the gulf coast. They capture carbon in their roots, protect our coast against erosion, bird habitat, provide a nursery for a ton of marine life, filter dirty water as it comes out from inland, protects us against storm surges and hurricanes, and too many things to list here!
