The view from Selby Gardens is breathtaking! I love gardening, and although my yard is no Selby Gardens, I have a lot of the same plants as this garden does. My favorite plant in this scene is the Song of India; its such a stunning and hardy plant, with an interesting leaf design, that I was most excited for the challenge of painting that. Since this is Selby gardens and not India though, naming the painting “Song of Selby” seemed more fitting. I haven’t painted a lot of floral landscapes so this a fun mix up for me. Of course I still love my fave bridge and bay visible in the background. I wonder if I will eventually paint this bridge from every angle possible - a lifetime goal perhaps?!
